Today, the Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Hon. Dr. Gift Worlu, led a delegation on a familiarisation and courtesy visit to the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 6 Division, Nigerian Army, Major General Emmanuel Ejim-Emekah, at Bori Camp, Port Harcourt.
The visit was aimed at strengthening the cordial relationship between the Local Government and the Nigerian Army, expressing appreciation for the Division’s tireless efforts in maintaining peace and security in the Niger Delta region, and exploring avenues for closer collaboration in the interest of our people.
Dr. Worlu reiterated the commitment of Obio/Akpor LGA to work hand-in-hand with the military and other security agencies to foster a safe, stable, and prosperous environment where residents and businesses can thrive.
The GOC warmly welcomed the delegation and emphasised the importance of synergy between civil authorities and the military in achieving lasting peace and security. He noted that the success of his mandate is measured by the prevailing peace in the area and assured continued partnership with the LGA.
The meeting provided an opportunity for both sides to reaffirm their shared vision of a secure and progressive Rivers State, where government, the military, and the community collaborate for the greater good.
